CNAG – The Institute

 

The CNAG Consortium carries out large-scale projects in DNA/RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe, with several Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencers, state-of-the-art single-cell equipment, and an extensive informatics infrastructure. The operation is certified ISO 9001 and accredited ISO 17025, delivering standardized, high-quality data for research and clinics. The CNAG has over 125 professionals and participates in major International Genome Initiatives and EU-funded projects.

 

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Business Project Manager / Entrepreneur to lead the development and implementation of a plan to incorporate a spin-out to commercialize clinical genomics tools related to data management, analysis, interpretation using AI, and clinical reporting for rare diseases and cancer. The selected candidate will be responsible for the execution of all necessary steps for the incorporation of the company and the securement of private and/or public funding.

 

His/Her responsibilities include:

● Lead the incorporation of a Spin-out from the CNAG.

● Secure private and/or public funding.

● Consolidate an operational team.

● Lead the refinement of the Market Analysis, Commercialization and Business Plans.

● Establish contacts with clients.

● Develop a commercial network.

 



Who would we like to hire?

● Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent studies.

● Highly motivated entrepreneur with more than 3 years of experience in business development in the biotech, medical devices, or computer industries.

● Experience with fundraising from private investors and/or public funders.

● Experience preparing business and financial plans and reports.

● Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.

● Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

● Highly organized and proactive.

● Goal-oriented analytical mind.

 

 

Nice to have:

● Prior record of setting up a successful start-up.

● Proven track record in completing financing rounds.

● Experience developing commercialization strategies and preparation of marketing materials.

● Experience with companies focusing on software, especially in the healthcare sector.

● Experience leading and managing teams.

● Written and verbal communication in Catalan.

 

 

The Offer

● Contract duration: open-ended linked to the project.

● Compensation, including salary, will be commensurate with qualifications and performance.

● Target starting date: as soon as possible.
